There are several different rubber options for the soles of barefoot shoes, depending on the purpose of use.
The most commonly used sole material is 4mm thick Vibram Super Newflex, which is soft and does not prevent the sole of the foot from touching the ground. The rubber compound is light and durable. The product photos show examples of this. Super Newflex is available in white, black and light brown.
The soles of barefoot shoes can also be made with durable winter patterned rubber or lighter summer rubber.
